What happens when a burning splinter is introduced in gas jar containing carbon dioxide​

air contains all the gases including oxygen. all combustion process needs oxygen to remain burning . so in such cases when we lit splinter in a jar containing only carbon dioxide , it will no longer burn and therefore the splint will go out .
