a) Answer: x>2
Step by Step: •-2x-10<-14
•-2x-10(+10)<-14(+10)
•-2x<-4 -divide each side by -2x
•x>2(since you divided by a negative, switch the sign)
b) Answer: x<-7
Step by Step: •x+4/3 < -1
•multiply each side by the denominator (3)
•x+4(-4)<-3(-4) subtract
•x<7

  • Then divide both sides by -2.(REMEMBER:When you divide or multiply by a minus number the sign will be changed)

x+4/3 * 3 < or = to -1*3

x+4-4 < or = to -3-4
