Explain why you get a basic solution when you dissolve NaF in water.

Na is a alkaline earth metal

Metallic compound dissolved in water acts as base

Also there is another reason

Na F is ioniC

Fluorine is known as having highest electron affinity in world

It can accept a line pair of OH-

So it's Bronsted Lowry base .

  • It can also acts as Arrhenius base

Hence its basic
