Are 5-x=y and x-5=y the same ?

Explanation:

because on the first equation you subtract 5and take to y as a negative and in the second equation 5 goes as a positive at least that is what i think

5 is positive , x is negative

BUT

x-5=y

5 is negative, and x is positive
