(x)/(6) = 24

Solve for x.


x = 144

If we add, x, (x+2), and (x-2). We will have 9 terms. The value of mean will change to 30. This also means that


(270)/(9) = 30


144 + x + (x + 2) + (x - 2) = 270


3x + 144 = 270


3x = 126


x = 42
