Why was the concept of believing in one god so profound?(Monotheism)

Answer:

I suppose monotheism came to be so popular because of how simple it is. Its very easy for colonialists to explain to natives about one god who covers everything rather than explaining multiple. It's convenient. Also polytheism was mostly killed off by monotheists usually of an abrahamic religion.
