When I got to my cabin at camp, the other campers showered me with a chorus of greetings.

"I’m Alex,” the red-headed boy closest to me said.

"Javier,” called the boy with the glasses sitting next to him.

"Miguel,” waved the boy in the corner. He was sitting surrounded by a pile of comic books.

A fourth boy, taller than the rest, walked up and shook my hand. "I’m Asher. Grab a bunk.”

Why did the author most likely use dialogue instead of description?

to allow the plot to progress
to show how the narrator felt
to emphasize the point of view
to show who the characters are
