A 36 meters

Explanation:

the perimeter is the sum of all sides around the object.

and 1 m² is a square with 1m side length.

so, we only need to count the bordering squares.

we have

12 + 3 + 3 + 5 + 2 + 3 + 3 + 5 = 36 m
