Okie so basically to solve this equation, you have to bring the variables to one side and the constants to the other side of the equal sign (remember that when you bring the variables and constants to each side their sign changes):


5b + 4b = 56 - 11


Now add/subtract like terms:


9b = 45


Divide both sides by 9 because that is what both sides can be divisible by:

b = 5


Your answer is b = 5.
