Explanation:

the perimeter (P) of a rectangle is calculated as

P = 2l + 2w ( l is the length and w the width ) , then

P = 2(2x + 3) + 2(x + 5) ← distribute both parenthesis

= 4x + 6 + 2x + 10 ← collect like terms

= 6x + 16
