How valuable is Vietnam's topography (forests and mountains) in the history of the resistance war against the enemy?

Answer:

Due to it's dense, heavy jungles Vietnam gives heavy advantages to its local people who know how to navigate the region. This being foreign to many outside attackers, they were virtually made useless by the terrain of the area, likely allowing locals to achieve and win the war.
