Explanation:

A polynomial f(x) is divided by (x - a) then the remainder is f(a)

Here f(x) = 4x³ - 5x² + 2x - 14 is divided by (x - 2) then remainder is f(2)

f(2) = 4(2)³ - 5(2)² + 2(2) - 14

= 4(8) - 5(4) + 4 - 14

= 32 - 20 - 10

= 12 - 10

= 2
