What do ribosomes do in animal cells

Ribosomes are minute particles constisting of RNA and associated proteins that function to synthesize protiens. Proteins are needed for many cellular function such as repairing damage or directing chemical process. Ribosomes can be found floating within the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum.
