4. If y - 2x = 3 and y - x = 1, what are the values of x and y?

y - x = 1.

or, y= 1+x

y - 2x = 3.

=>1+x -2x= 3 (substituting the value of y)

=>-x= 2

=>x= -2

y = -2+1 = -1

Therefore, x = -2 and y = -1
