A farmer sells 7.5 kilograms of apples and pears at the farmer's market. 3/4 of this weight is apples, and the rest is pears. How many kilograms of pears did she sell at the farmer's market?

Answer: 1.87 kg of pears

Explanation:

7.5 kg of both apples and pears were sold. 3/4 of this 7.5 kg is apples which means the amount of apples sold is:

= 7.5 * 3/4

= 5.63 kg of apples

The amount of pears sold would therefore be:

= Total amount sold - Amount of apples

= 7.5 - 5.63

= 1.87 kg of pears
