Were the Seven Years' War and the French and Indian war the same war, just a different name used?

yes! the Seven Years War is just another name for the French and Indian War- but in Europe it's just the seven years war and not given a separate name. "seven years" refers to events in europe and two years later the war began and then a peace treaty was signed in 1763
