Why did people disagree with carbon taxing ?

because it's seen as unfair. A carbon tax is regressive. By making fossil fuels more expensive, it imposes a harsher burden on those with low incomes. They will pay a higher percentage of their income for necessities like gasoline, electricity, and food.
