Someone please tell me:

Which is silent in the word "scent", the S or the C?

Answer: The "c" is silent because if you were to say the word with the "c" it would be "sent" which sounds exactly like how it would with a "c".

Answer:

The word scent originated in like the 17th century and the c was probably added for style purposes, so I believe the c is silent
