2. Why was slavery so important to the South?

Slavery was extremely profitable , it made many millionaires and with crops like tobacco and cotton it was the center of the economics and with that people who were doing labor in plantations kept the farms and resources running.

the south made their living with agricultural, and needed people to pick cash crops for cheap. they found that they made great profits having slaves, as they picked without pay
