All in all, Hiram Revels has set great precedents in our country's government since he held office. For one, his presence in the Senate has paved the way for other African-Americans like Thurgood Marshall and Barack Obama. In addition, his view on civil rights and compassionate approach to issues were seen in later court cases and presidents.
