In a grassland ecosystem, what advantages does a burrower have over an animal that does not burrow?

Animals who burrow do it for a variety of reasons like nesting, hibernation, food supply and warmth. Some animals take advantage of burrows already made so they don’t have to do the digging themselves. Some only use burrows as an opportunity to ambush unsuspecting prey.
