Binary Fission
In prokaryotic organisms and protozoa, the process of cell division is called binary fission. In this process, two cells are produced through
the division of a living prokaryotic cell into two parts.
In bacteria, binary fission is under the control of a group of proteins called Ftsz that can be found around the division site. The process of
binary fission in a bacterial cell thus is contingent upon the activity of the Ftsz to divide and direct the division of the cell.
