In one or two paragraphs, describe the role of each branch of the federal government and explain how the three branches work as a check on each other.

The other person didn’t answer the last part, to make sure no branch had more power over another branch a system of checks and balances was created. It works like rock, paper, scissors— no branch could have more power than another branch, they gave each branch a certain power over the other.

Legislative—Makes laws (Congress, comprised of the House of Representatives and Senate)

Executive—Carries out laws (president, vice president, Cabinet, most federal agencies)

Judicial—Evaluates laws (Supreme Court and other courts)
