First and foremost, every democratic system must guarantee the equal and unrestricted participation of all citizens of legal age without distinction of characteristics of any kind such as social status, race, religion, sex, or any other characteristic.

The procedure by which in every democracy representatives are elected to occupy government positions is through elections. In elections, the citizens of the nation voluntarily elect the candidates they consider most suitable to occupy the political positions in which decisions concerning the direction of the nation willbe take. Thus, for example, presidents, senators, representatives in the House, etc., are designed through elections.
