Find the area of a rectangle with length 12 1/3 m and width 1 1/3 m.

Explanation:

area = length × width = 12 1/3 × 1 1/3

the easiest way to do this multiplication is to simply bring all to full fractions :

12 1/3 = (3×12 + 1)/3 = 37/3

1 1/3 = (3×1 + 1)/3 = 4/3

so our multiplication is

37/3 × 4/3 = 37×4/(3×3) = 148/9 = 16 4/9 m²
