∠ ABD is right and

∠ ABE + ∠ DBE = ∠ ABD , that is

3x - 8 + x + 14 = 90

4x + 6 = 90 ( subtract 6 from both sides )

4x = 84 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x = 21

Then

∠ ABE = 3x - 8 = 3(21) - 8 = 63 - 8 = 55°
