first split the figure into 2 parts, the square and the triangle. The area of the sqaure is base times height or 6m times 10m which gives you 60m^2. For the triangle area you multiply base times height and divide it by 2, the base is 6m and the height is 4m so it will be 4x6 divided by 2 which gives you 12m^2. Lastly you add them both up, 60m^2 +12m^2 and you get 72m^2.
