The side adjacent is part of the reference angle.

The side opposite is not connected to the reference angle at all.

Side Opposite = 10

Side Adjacent = 8

Tan(y) = 10/8

Tan(y) = 1.25

y = Tan-1(1.25)

y = 51.34

y = 51.3
