Therefore, - 6^2 is - 6×-6 WHICH IS EQUALS TO 36

(-6)^2 = - 6×-6=36

36=36 is the answer.

No it doesn't

You see when something is in parenthesis () that means it isolated as a whole. When it says (-6)^2 that means Negative six squared. When it says -6^2 that means only the 6 will be squared since they are not parenthesized. So by isolating the two figures both of those numbers together will be squared whereas when they arent isolated only one of them will be squared.

(-6)^2 = -6 x -6 = 36

-6^2= - x 6 x 6= -36
