how fast does it take a baseball to reach the plate, when pitched by a professional pitcher in baseball?

The distance from the pitcher's hand to home plate is 60 feet, 6 inches. So…… At 100 mph the ball covers 146.7 feet per second, or 0.412 seconds to get to the batter. Less than half a second!
