Answer: Atrial septal defect is a congenital defect of heart.

Step-by-step explanation:

This defect occurs in the septum of the heart. It occurs in between the walls of the upper chamber of the heart. The wall can be repaired by filling up the hole with a device and via surgery. The symptoms of the defect are shortness of breath, or labored breath, fatigue, stroke, whooshing sound from the heart, beats of the heart are skipped, swelling also occurs in the legs and feet. This condition increases the amount of blood that flows to the lungs after being pumped out by the heart.
