120 square inches.
Explanation:
This is a regular octagon. (It has 8 equal sides).
You have enough information to find the area of 1 triangle.
label the bottom line as 5.
Draw two lines from the center to each end of the bottom 5 inch line.
That gives you 1 triangle. Find the area of that 1 triangle.
Area = 1/2 b * h
b = 5
h = 6
Area = 1/2 * 5 * 6
Area = 15.
Now here's the actual answer.
You have 8 such triangles.
The area of the octagon is 8 * 15 = 120 square inches.
