So knowing that the truck is 162 inches, lets find how many inches the bridge is. We can do this by multiplying the feet, which is 12. 12(feet) times 12(inches in a foot) equals 144.

Remember that the problem said 12 feet and 5 inches, so we know 12 feet is 144 inches, now we jsut need to add the 5 inches. Well, 144 plus 5 is 149. Clearly, 162(truck) is greater than 149(bridge).

How much taller? lets subtract the heigh of the truck by the bridge: 162-149.

This should get you 13.

So the answer must be that the truck is 13 inches taller.
