What are two reasons Walleye Pollocks gather in large groups?

Pollock gather in very large groups for the purpose of reproduction. Each female sends thousands of eggs out into the water, and the males send out lots of sperm at the same time. Carried by the water, the sperm and eggs meet and the eggs are fertilized.
