From the 16th century to the 19th century, the Catholic Church would control its worshipper through fear in England and would draw out money in the process. A religion might dangle predestination in front of the noses of its worshippers and violate human rights by saying it was meant to be. Governments that control its people's lives are usually authoritarian and probably have committed many human rights violations. The worst that could happen with this is a combination of controlling churches and governments; Religious-based Governments. Religious-based countries may follow a doctorine set within the religion and might cause oppression among the population.
