he managed to make a lot of changes, he ended slavery, and kept the union and confederacy from becoming to separate countries. After the civil was, he was attempting to restore the south peacefully, but then he was assinated. When Andrew Johnson took over, he punished the south so lincoln didn’t make as much of a change as he wanted to, as the south and north were still at odds.
