Geographers can learn if it was colonized and if it was by who (what country). If the language was changed and/or spread, that can affect culture. Lots of countries have their different languages and that means different cultures. For example, in Mexico, they speak Spanish and have different traditions such as Cinco de Mayo or Dia De Muertos.
