Explanation:

You replace the x with the numbers in the parenthesis. So for I it would be:

f(0) = 4(0) - 5 -> 0 - (-5) -> -5

g(-4) = 3(-4) +7 -> -12 + 7 -> -5

You solve each one and if your answer matches with each other, your answer is right.

If you did this with II and III, you wouldn't get the same answers.

For IV it would be:

f(6) = 4(6) - 5 -> 24 - 5 -> 19

g(4) = 3(4) + 7 -> 12 + 7 -> 19
