Ryan is experimenting with core materials for an electromagnet. He slides different core materials through a coil of current-carrying wire. Sort the core materials based on whether they will or won’t increase the strength of Ryan’s electromagnet.

Electromagnets are basically coils of wire which behave like bar magnets with a distinct north and south pole when an electrical current passes through the coil. The better the conductivity of the material the bigger the strength of Ryan's electromagnet.

The material is sorted as follows:

1. C) silver - the best conductor

2. E) iron

3. D) nickel

4. C) steel

5. F) glass-insulator

5. A) wood-insulator

Insulators do not conduct electricity.
