Video games should be a sport, as they have all the characteristics of what we already define as "sports". First, multiplayer co-op encourages team building, as you are forced to work with a partner to win. Also, they are easily accessible, as once the controller layout is learned, almost any game can be played with enough practice. Finally, they are just as competitive, especially because everyone has an equal chance at victory. Video games are just as much sports as regular sports are, and that fact will never change.
