You can find the vertical asymptote for this problem by finding what number in the denominator of the fraction equals 0 so it would look like :

X-1 = 0

and just solve for X which comes out to 1

and that is the Vertical Asymptote

For Horizontal Asymptote, you need to look at the leading coefficients of both the numerator and denominator. If the leading coefficient has both the same number for exponents top and bottom then you can cancel the X's

HA = x/x = 1/1 = 1
