During the Civil War he went to many contraband camps and continued to aid slaves in their journey for freedom on the Underground Railroad. After the war ended, Coffin raised a whopping 100,000, actually more than that! He raised the money for the Western Freedman's Aid Society to provide food, money, clothing, and other aid for the black that have been recently freed. Hoped this helped
