The first crisis of the Cold War happened in June 1948, when the Soviet Union blocked all access to West Berlin. The Soviets were trying to force Western powers to give up control over their half of the city. How did Western allies react?

Answer: As a counter-response to Western aggression, but with massive casualties on both sides (Axis and Allies) at the end of World War II in 1945, President Harry S. Truman blockaded a unified German into a divided, German East Germany and a “free”, U.S. led West Germany that ended until the divided Germanys were reunified by Russian President Mikael Gorbachev and U.S. President Ronald Reagan in the famous “tear down this wall!” speech. Hope this helps!
