HELP PLEASE ASAP

If y varies as x², explain why doubling x would not cause y to be doubled as well. Use an example to illustrate your response.

the x has an exponent of 2. the exponent of 2 means x squared, which is x•x. this isn't the same as x+x, because x+x=2x whereas x•x=x squared.
