Cellphone plan A costs $35 for having the phone plus $0.40 per text message. Cellphone plan B costs $45 for having the phone plus $0.30 per text message. How many text messages can be sent for both plans to be equal in cost? (Write and solve an algebraic equation that can be used to solve for the number of text messages before both plans are equal in cost)

x = number of text messages sent

0.2x+40=50

0.2x = 10

5(0.2x) = 5(10)

x = 50

Therefore, 50 text messages would have to be sent or received in order for the plans to cost the same each month.
