negative sign is outside the parenthesis. so it should be multiplied with -8k and 7

-k - (-8k + 7) = -k - 8k * (-1) + 7*(-1)

= -1k + 8k - 7

Now -k and 8k are like terms. So, combine them.

= 7k - 7
