What are sediments? how are they involved in the formation of fossils?

Answer: Sediments are solid materials that settle at the bottom of a liquid, usually earth and pieces of rock that were carried and then left somewhere by water, ice, or wind. They are involved with the formation of fossils because fossils are buried under layers of sediment. The sediments harden and it retains the shape of the fossil.
