Aquatic plants can only grow in water or in soil that is frequently saturated with water. They have leaves with large air pockets allowing them to absorb oxygen from the water (they should have one air bubble in each leaf). The leaves of aquatic plants are soft. It allows them to move smoothly/easily with the waves.
