In your own words, describe what an outlier is. Give a real life example of an outlier.

Answer:

An outlier is a number that is extremely smaller or extremely larger than all the other numbers. an example would be a data set of 8th graders heights where in the data set there is one kid that is much shorter or much taller than the rest of the 8th graders.

Answer:

"lies outside" (is much smaller or larger than) most of the other values in a set of data. For example in the scores 25,29,3,32,85,33,27,28 both 3 and 85 are "outliers".
