In Module 3.04, you read about the many ways that life in the United States was impacted by World War I. Give two examples of changes that occurred at home.

Answer: 1. Industrialization rapidly changed the US economy over three decades. Manufacturing allowed products to be made faster. It also allowed workers to make those products in greater quantities. The changes created a need for more raw materials that even the resource rich US did not have prompting them to branch out for the raw materials they needed. The US sought resources such as sugar in the Caribbean and Hawaii.

2. Industrialization also brought about increased trade. Americans were not able to buy all of the goods being produced, so manufacturers sought new markets for their goods. Need to develop new markets also motivated Americans to look abroad.
